Project: The Tempest in VR

This project at the Seoul Institute of the Arts was another collaboration with Andrea Paciotto. In an ongoing research of CultureHub (part of LaMama, New York), the combination of theatre and Virtual Reality is explored. A surrealistic version of the island of Shakespeare’s Tempest was created in VR by Italian artist Paul Harden, and together with the students of the Seoul Institute of the Arts explored and exploited in artistic experiments.

Together with them, I took care of the musical accompaniment - including the creation of soundscapes and foley sounds - and an experimental system for spatialization of live sounds in a VR setting. Also I designed and built the interactive glove controls for the actress, to allow for intuitive movement of her character (well, basically she slipped into all characters) across the island.
